Recently I have noticed that there are very few things in my closet that excite me, and I wear fairly plain and frumpy clothes on a regular basis. Sounds like what happens to most (relatively) new moms. I am constantly picking up clothes for the kids, but rarely do I purchase anything for myself.
I can’t recall how I came across it online, but just a week or so ago I discovered Stitch Fix and signed up. It’s an online personal stylist service. I just enter in specifics on my style profile, pin stuff I like on Pinterest (and provide a link to that board to the stylist), and viola! Once a month I’ll get a shipment of 5 items. Return anything you don’t want and just pay for what you keep.
If anyone is interested in Stitch Fix, use my referral link. If you sign up, I get a $25 credit.
So I thought I’d share what I got. This is also a way my stylist can see how things fit. Here is what I got:
- Pixley Martina Slub Knit Open Cardigan in Fuchsia
- Market & Spruce Careen V-Neck Dolman Knit Top in Grey
- Mavi Freida Skinny Jean in Navy
- 41Hawthorn Presley Colorblick Button-Back Sweater in Coral
- Bancroft Dante Cut Out Metal Oval Layered Necklace
Above is the dolman knit top, the jeans, and the necklace. I liked the soft quality of the top, but the arms were a bit tight and it still seemed too basic (I need stuff to rev up my wardrobe). I was very excited to get these jeans. I’m definitely in need of dark stretchy skinnies. These fit the bill there, but given all that stretch, the size was too big. I may look into how I can get the next size down in these. I was pleasantly surprised by the necklace. I don’t wear much jewelry, but that’s something that I’d like to change. This necklace looked good with everything I put it with. I’m just not sure it will outlast a toddler yanking on it! Verdict is still out on the necklace.
Now this cardigan is perfect! Given that it is never too cold here in Southern California, I like to wear tops of all sleeve length and then throw on a cardigan in case the office is chilly. My current assortment of cardigans is looking a bit tired, worn and lacking in color. This will definitely brighten it up. Keeper!
Overall I was pretty impressed with the quality of the items as well as how close the sizing was on all of them. I came into this first shipment with rather low expectations since the stylist knew very little about me at this point. Can’t wait to see how my wardrobe expands over the coming months. I’m hoping for pieces that may be a bit out of my comfort zone, too!
